TechNode Prioritizes AGI Research Over Short-Term Commercialization
Chinese large language model developer TechNode is launching a "Touch High" plan that will concentrate on AGI research instead of immediate commercialization, according to founder Tang Jie.

Chinese large language model developer TechNode will shift its focus to AGI research through a new initiative called the "Touch High" plan. According to founder Tang Jie, the company will prioritize long-term development in artificial general intelligence over short-term commercial interests.
The company, known for its GLM series of large language models, has outlined four technical priorities for the plan: long-horizon tasks, autonomous agent systems, fully self-training, and extreme safety governance. These objectives were detailed in an internal letter to employees.
Mechanistic interpretability, aimed at understanding the decision-making logic within AI models, is highlighted as a key direction within the plan's safety research component. This focus suggests an emphasis on transparency and control in advanced AI development.
TechNode's strategic pivot indicates a long-term vision for advancing AI capabilities, concentrating on foundational research and safety protocols before potential market applications.
