Teenage Engineering to Cease Synthesizer Production
Music and design firm Teenage Engineering plans to stop making synthesizers, including its iconic OP-1, according to CEO Jesper Kouthoofd. The decision follows a company reorganization.

Teenage Engineering, the Swedish firm known for its distinctive music gear and design collaborations, will cease production of its synthesizers. CEO Jesper Kouthoofd confirmed the decision to Highsnobiety, stating it is part of a reorganization that took place last fall.
The move impacts all of the company's audio-focused products, most notably the OP-1 synthesizer, which was instrumental in establishing the brand. Teenage Engineering has also gained recognition for its design work, with past collaborations including Ikea and Nothing.
Kouthoofd indicated that the company's future strategy will shift away from synthesizer manufacturing. While specific reasons for the withdrawal from this market segment were not detailed, the decision signifies a strategic pivot for the firm.
This change marks a significant departure for Teenage Engineering, which built a strong reputation on its innovative approach to musical instrument design. The company's focus will now be directed towards other ventures.
