Telekom Launches New Fiber Optic Projects in April

Deutsche Telekom began several new fiber optic network construction projects in Germany during April, focusing on the regions of Bavaria, Saxony-Anhalt, and Saxony. Some of these initiatives are supported by federal and state funding, while others are financed through the company's own capital.

In Aschau im Chiemgau, Bavaria, Deutsche Telekom was awarded the contract to build a new fiber optic network that will connect 135 buildings, serving 202 households. Construction commenced in early April and is projected to conclude by the end of the year. The new network will span at least 45 kilometers of fiber cable and include six new network distribution points.

In the municipality of Leiblfing, located in Lower Bavaria, the project encompasses 790 households. The fiber optic network construction, financed by funds from the federal government and the state of Bavaria, is also expected to be completed by the end of the year. Approximately 230 kilometers of fiber optic cable and 40 network distribution points are planned for installation.

In Saxony-Anhalt, Telekom is expanding its fiber optic network in several municipalities. Egeln, Egeln-Nord, Tarthun, Unseburg, and Wolmirsleben are scheduled to receive fiber connections by the end of 2026, benefiting 310 households and businesses. In the city of Zörbig, construction has already commenced and is expected to cover approximately 1,150 households and commercial properties.
