Teleste integrates AI-driven text-to-speech into rail passenger platform

Teleste has incorporated Acapela Group's AI-based voice synthesis into its S-ARRIVE passenger information system to improve automated transit announcements.

21 October 2026

Finnish technology firm Teleste announced the integration of Acapela Group’s artificial intelligence text-to-speech technology into its S-ARRIVE platform. The upgrade allows rail, tram, and metro operators to deploy automated voice announcements generated by AI directly through their existing passenger information hardware.

The deployment replaces traditional pre-recorded or generic digital voices with synthetic speech models designed to sound more natural and localized. By embedding the software directly into the platform, Teleste aims to streamline how transit authorities update and manage audible information for commuters across various language and dialect requirements.

This integration addresses growing demand within the public transport sector for more responsive and scalable passenger communication systems. As transit operators face pressure to improve accessibility, the ability to rapidly update information via AI is becoming a standard requirement for infrastructure providers.

Teleste expects the AI-enhanced S-ARRIVE platform to be available to current and future transit clients immediately, marking a shift toward more dynamic, software-defined passenger announcement systems.
