Telia Proposes Further Localization and SEK 1 Billion in Annual Savings
Telia intends to further localize its operations and reduce approximately 900 positions to achieve SEK 1 billion in annual gross savings. The move aims to simplify and increase efficiency within the company.
Swedish telecom operator Telia announced plans to further localize its operations as part of a strategy to become a simpler, faster, and more efficient company. The company aims to achieve annual gross savings of SEK 1 billion (approximately $95 million USD).
The proposed changes include a reduction of approximately 900 positions across Telia's various units. Additionally, Telia proposes to transfer around 220 positions, primarily from its common Technology unit, to country-specific operational units. This restructuring is expected to lower the company's operating cost base.
Telia estimates restructuring charges of approximately SEK 600 million (around $57 million USD) in the fourth quarter of 2026. The cash flow impact is expected to be mainly realized in 2027.
The company reiterated its financial outlook for 2026 and its mid-term financial targets. These organizational adjustments are designed to enhance Telia's competitiveness in a changing market landscape.
