Temu Enters Compliance Partnership with Spain’s Recyclia
E-commerce platform Temu has signed an agreement with the Spanish waste management organization Recyclia to assist third-party sellers in meeting local environmental regulations.

Temu has entered a formal partnership with Recyclia, a Spanish organization managing collective extended producer responsibility (EPR) schemes for electrical and electronic equipment. The agreement aims to streamline compliance for marketplace sellers operating within Spain, ensuring their products align with local waste management directives.
Under the terms of the deal, Temu will leverage Recyclia’s administration of the Ecoasimelec and Ecopilas schemes. This integration is designed to help sellers fulfill legal obligations regarding the recovery and recycling of electronic components and batteries. By standardizing the process, Temu seeks to mitigate regulatory risks for its vendors as European environmental oversight continues to tighten.
The partnership follows increased pressure on global e-commerce platforms to take greater responsibility for the post-consumer lifecycle of goods sold to European Union residents. Compliance with these mandates is a prerequisite for continued market access, as regulators focus on the environmental impact of imported consumer goods.
Temu’s move reflects a broader trend of online marketplaces adopting third-party logistics and compliance services to manage complex cross-border regulatory frameworks.
