Tenant Inc. Opens Nectar API for AI Tools
Self-storage technology provider Tenant Inc. has opened its Nectar API, allowing operators to connect AI tools directly to their operational data.

IRVINE, Calif. โ July 13, 2026 โ Tenant Inc., a technology company serving the self-storage industry, announced today that its Nectar API is now accessible to artificial intelligence tools. This move enables self-storage operators to connect AI applications, such as Claude and ChatGPT, directly to their live operational data within the company's Hummingbird platform.
The company has published documentation and launched an open developer portal. This allows operators and third-party developers to build applications using the Nectar API without needing to wait for vendor-specific development roadmaps.
Nectar has served as the foundational open API for Tenant Inc.'s platform, managing data flow between its Hummingbird and Mariposa systems and over 40 integrated third-party vendors. Recent advancements in AI technology have made previously complex automations and data analysis feasible through the API.
"For years the industry has told operators their data is their own. Then they try to use it and find out it only moves where the vendor allows. That's not ownership. That's permission," said Lance Watkins, CEO at Tenant Inc. "Nobody knows exactly how AI changes this industry over the next two years. That's why open matters."
