Tencent Hunyuan launches Hyra 2.0 AI research system

Tencent Hunyuan has released Hyra 2.0, an AI system designed to shift scientific research from solving individual problems to developing reusable workflows and automated research tools.

2 November 2026

Tencent Hunyuan has unveiled Hyra 2.0, the latest iteration of its AI-driven research platform. The system transitions the focus from direct problem-solving to the creation of reusable software tools and research workflows, aiming to standardize scientific inquiry through automated agents.

Hyra 2.0 builds upon the initial 1.0 version, which was previously utilized to address long-standing open problems in additive combinatorics. The new architecture organizes research into three distinct tiers: an 'Overall' layer for human coordination, a 'Mission' layer for long-term strategic decision-making, and a 'Worker' layer tasked with hands-on experimentation, code analysis, and troubleshooting.

The platform integrates a memory and knowledge-sharing system that allows agents to store successful methodologies as transferable skills. This modular approach is intended to foster cumulative gains in research efficiency, enabling scientific projects to benefit from previous findings without needing to repeat preliminary development stages.
