Tencent integrates AI-powered service robot into Shenzhen 7-Eleven
Tencent has introduced an AI-driven retail robot at a 7-Eleven location in Shenzhen to automate customer interactions and order processing.
Tencent launched an AI-powered service robot at a 7-Eleven store situated within its Shenzhen corporate campus on October 29. The deployment coincided with the opening of the 2,000th 7-Eleven branch in the Guangdong province.
Equipped with Tencent’s proprietary Hunyuan AI models, the machine facilitates customer engagement by providing product recommendations, explaining promotional bundles, and processing orders through voice interaction. Once an order is placed, customers finalize the transaction by scanning a QR code.
The system utilizes integrated audio processing technology designed to isolate speech patterns in high-noise retail environments. According to WeChat Pay, the objective is to offload routine customer service tasks to the robot, enabling human staff to focus on logistics such as inventory management and food preparation.
