Tencent Launches TenPayGo App for International Travelers
Tencent has launched TenPayGo, a mobile payment app allowing foreign visitors to link overseas cards and digital wallets to pay within the WeChat Pay network.
Chinese technology giant Tencent launched TenPayGo on September 24, a mobile payment application designed for foreign visitors. The app enables travelers to link their international bank cards and digital wallets to make payments across the WeChat Pay network.
Users can register using an email address, simplifying the process for those without a local Chinese phone number. Tencent stated that the app supports seven international card networks, including Visa and Mastercard, and approximately 60 overseas digital wallets.
The rollout precedes Shenzhen hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) China 2026 summit. While foreign travelers could previously use international bank cards with Weixin Pay and Alipay in China, TenPayGo is presented as a more streamlined sign-up option for WeChat Pay.
Tencent is also collaborating with consumer wallet providers, such as the Singapore-based finance app Starryblu. This partnership suggests an effort to broaden the service's reach and accessibility for international users.
