Tencent, Meituan Launch AED Delivery Project in Shenzhen
Tech giants Tencent and Meituan have partnered in Shenzhen to launch a "5-minute social emergency circle" initiative focusing on rapid Automated External Defibrillator (AED) delivery during emergencies.

Chinese technology firms Tencent and Meituan have launched a new emergency response initiative in Shenzhen, aiming to establish a "5-minute social emergency circle" for the rapid delivery of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
The project addresses the critical challenge of quickly getting AED devices to individuals experiencing sudden medical emergencies. Tencent has developed an intelligent dispatch platform that utilizes algorithms to locate the nearest available AED and coordinate its delivery via Meituan's extensive network of couriers.
When a medical emergency occurs and standard ambulance response may be delayed, the system will identify the incident location, the closest AED unit, and the most efficient route for a Meituan courier. The courier will then pick up the AED and deliver it to the scene, with remote video guidance available for immediate aid.
As part of the initiative, Meituan plans to train 2,000 couriers in Shenzhen this year on AED delivery and usage. The project also involves establishing training programs and response mechanisms in collaboration with health authorities and emergency services to enhance community preparedness.
