Tencent to Cease Operations for The Division 2 in China
Tencent has announced the discontinuation of its Chinese operations for the online game The Division 2, effective December 14, 2026. In-game purchases and new user registrations were halted on October 12, 2026.
Tencent, China's largest technology conglomerate, has announced that it will cease operations for the online game The Division 2 in mainland China on December 14, 2026. The decision follows a shift in the company's business development strategy.
Prior to the full service shutdown, Tencent stopped in-game purchases and new user registrations on October 12, 2026. The game's official website and player forums will also be closed on December 22, 2026, after the game servers are shut down.
The Division 2, a third-person shooter developed by Ubisoft, was launched in China by Tencent in November 2023. The service discontinuation occurs less than two years after its release in the region.
Tencent is offering a compensation program for players with remaining in-game currency. Users can claim compensation packages for other Tencent titles, such as Peacekeeper Elite, Battle of Golden Spatula, Valorant, CrossFire, and Honor of Kings, based on the value of their unused virtual currency.
