Tencent to Shut Down QClaw AI Assistant
Tencent QClaw, an AI assistant for remote work via WeChat, will cease operations on December 24, 2026. New user registrations have been stopped effective immediately.
Chinese technology company Tencent has announced that it will be discontinuing its QClaw AI assistant service. The service is scheduled to cease operations on December 24, 2026.
Effective September 24, 2026, new user registrations for QClaw will be halted. Existing users who have subscribed to the service will be able to continue using it normally until the operational end date. The company stated that automatic renewal payments will cease without requiring manual cancellation.
Users are advised to back up their data, including configurations, chat history, and agent personalities, using the QClaw client application. Data backup and migration functionality will remain available until March 24, 2027. After this date, Tencent plans to delete all user data, except for information legally required to be retained.
Tencent is offering a migration path for QClaw users to transfer their data to WorkBuddy, another AI office assistant from Tencent. The process involves web authorization and client-side execution. Users who successfully migrate data may receive WorkBuddy points and purchase incentives.
QClaw, developed by the Tencent Computer Manager team based on OpenClaw, was initially tested internally in March 2026. It was designed to assist with tasks such as remote file organization and complex operations without requiring programming skills. Earlier reports indicated that QClaw's business unit was integrated into Tencent's cloud product division, which also houses the WorkBuddy product.
