Tencent WeChat begins testing voice clarity enhancement feature

Tencent is rolling out a new voice enhancement feature for WeChat users on iOS and Android to improve audio clarity during calls and voice messages.

4 November 2026

Tencent is currently conducting a limited test of a "Voice Clarity Enhancement" feature within its WeChat messaging application. Users on iOS and Android platforms have reported the emergence of a new settings entry, which allows for independent activation of audio optimization tools without requiring the full "Care Mode" interface previously associated with this capability.

The feature functions by having users complete a brief auditory assessment. During this setup, the application plays several audio clips to determine the user's specific hearing requirements, allowing the system to calibrate output settings accordingly. The goal is to provide clearer audio during voice messaging and real-time audio or video calls.

While the test is currently available to a subset of users on standard smartphone operating systems, the company has confirmed that development is still ongoing for a native version of the feature on Huawei’s HarmonyOS. Tencent stated that this feature represents an effort to improve accessibility and audio quality across its communication services.
