South African technology firm Tennsa has secured investment from Oakvale Invest, described as Africa's first AI-focused pre-seed fund. Tennsa provides an AI-driven business intelligence platform tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The company's AI is designed to augment human capabilities, aiming to improve quality of life and free up time for human interaction. Their initial product, Tennsa OS, acts as an operational intelligence layer that integrates with a business's existing systems. By analyzing these systems holistically, it identifies critical decision points and streamlines daily operations, allowing employees to focus on core tasks.

"Artificial intelligence is supposed to make people's lives easier and give them more time for human activities. Much of what has been built so far has not achieved this, not because of the technology, but because of how it has been directed. At Tennsa, we build around people rather than replacing them, so that business owners spend less time managing the entire company in their heads and more time on the work they actually want to do. Oakvale invested in us at a stage where most funds consider it too early," said Rivar Maharaj, founder of Tennsa.

Oakvale Invest has invested over ZAR 1 million (approximately USD 61,000) in Tennsa. According to Oakvale Invest, Tennsa represents exactly what they seek: a young African founder, a product built for the local market, and the ability to reach businesses quickly. This marks Oakvale's initial investment in Tennsa and is the first of many anticipated.
