Chinese League of Legends team TES has been eliminated from the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) following a 1:3 defeat against TSW representing Vietnam in the tournament's playoff stage. The loss is significant as it's the first time a team from the LPL (China) region has lost to a Vietnamese team in a best-of-five (BO5) format during an international competition.
Following the match, TES issued an official apology to its supporters. The team acknowledged their shortcomings, stating that the root of their defeat lay in insufficient individual skill, inadequate team synergy, and poor adaptability under pressure. Specific weaknesses in communication, teamfight decision-making, and mental fortitude were highlighted as key areas needing improvement.
The 2026 MSI tournament, held in Daejeon, South Korea, features eight teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. TES's elimination means they will not contend for the championship title. Another LPL team, BLG, is scheduled to face LYON in an upcoming match.
In other tournament action, HLE from South Korea advanced to the winners' final by defeating G2 from Europe 3:0. TES stated its commitment to analyzing their weaknesses and working towards improvement for future tournaments.
