Tesla is advancing its efforts to introduce a regulatory-compliant version of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in the Taiwanese market. The electric vehicle manufacturer has submitted its application and participated in a technical review process with local authorities.

The company confirmed it recently held its first technical review meeting with academics, experts, and government bodies. During this session, Tesla presented the framework for its road testing plan for the FSD system. The company stated that it will proceed with further preparations based on the feedback received from the review.

Tesla reported strong sales performance in Taiwan. In September 2026, its new vehicles ranked first in registrations among electric vehicle brands on the island. Year-to-date registrations reached 18,632 vehicles by the end of September 2026, positioning Tesla as the third best-selling automotive brand overall. The company held a 75.4% market share in Taiwan's EV sector in September.

To bolster sales, Tesla has introduced promotional offers in Taiwan, including a "0 down payment" financing option for the Model 3 and Model Y. These offers can be combined with home charging installation packages and a referral program that rewards existing owners for bringing in new customers.
