Tesla begins volume production of Semi electric truck in April 2026
Tesla has commenced volume production of its long-developed Semi electric truck in April 2026. The company showcased its new production capacity at the Gigafactory Nevada facility.
Tesla has begun volume production of its Semi electric truck, a heavy-duty vehicle first introduced as a concept in 2017. The move marks the start of series manufacturing nearly a decade after its initial unveiling.
The company held an event at its new Semi factory adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada to demonstrate its production capabilities. Tesla states the facility is capable of producing up to 50,000 trucks annually, equating to approximately 1,000 vehicles per week.
During the event, Tesla also announced new and existing customers for the Semi, including PepsiCo, US Foods, DHL, WattEV, and ABF. The truck's initial concept was revealed in 2017, with deliveries expected to commence shortly after the production ramp-up.
