Tesla Delays Roadster 2 Reveal Again Due to Severe Weather

Tesla has once again postponed the reveal of its redesigned, second-generation Roadster, this time due to a forecast of severe weather conditions. The event, originally slated for October 1 in Waco, Texas, has been rescheduled to October 15.

The company stated that the event "can only be held outdoors" because it is expected to demonstrate the car flying in some capacity using SpaceX thrusters. Tesla indicated that it has been monitoring the weather closely with local meteorologists but made the decision to reschedule due to the predicted severe conditions.

This marks another delay for the Roadster reveal, which has faced multiple postponements. Tesla first showcased the concept for the second-generation Roadster in 2017. At the time, the company promised the new Roadster would be available within a few years and began taking deposits for the supercar, which had an estimated base price of around $200,000.

Elon Musk had previously joked about delaying the reveal, suggesting an April Fools' Day event in 2025 would provide plausible deniability if further delays occurred. The project has languished for years since its initial unveiling alongside the Tesla Semi electric big rig.

The original Roadster, a key vehicle in the company's early history, was largely based on the Lotus Elise. The new Roadster 2 is intended to be Tesla's first supercar designed entirely from the ground up.
