Tesla Enables V2H Power for Model 3/Y in US
Tesla has launched its Powershare V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) capability for new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles ordered in the US and Puerto Rico since October 1st.
Tesla has announced that new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles ordered in the United States and Puerto Rico starting October 1st now support the Powershare V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) functionality. This feature allows the electric cars to act as a backup power source for households.
Unlike the Cybertruck, the V2H capability for the Model 3 and Y requires the use of Tesla's Powerwall 3 home battery storage system. The vehicles themselves do not offer standalone V2H functionality without this external battery.
The electricity stored within the vehicle's battery is sufficient to power a typical home for over two days. This integration aims to mitigate disruptions to daily life caused by power outages.
