Tesla Q3 Electric Vehicle Deliveries Decline Year-Over-Year, Beat Expectations

Tesla reported third-quarter deliveries of 486,532 electric vehicles, marking a 2.1% decrease compared to the 497,099 vehicles delivered in the same quarter of 2025. Despite the year-over-year decline, Tesla's stock saw an increase following the announcement, as the delivery figures exceeded analysts' consensus estimate of 456,600 vehicles.

Total vehicle production for the quarter rose by 3.7% year-over-year to 464,391 units. Of this total, 457,387 units were Model 3 and Model Y, an increase of 4.9% from the previous year. Production of 'other models,' which include the Cybertruck, Semi, and Cybercab, saw a significant 39.8% decrease year-over-year.

The company's stock performance indicated investor relief that the quarterly results, while showing a year-over-year dip, managed to outperform market expectations. However, the overall trend of declining year-over-year sales growth could present challenges for a company often valued on its expansion potential.

While Tesla does not break down sales figures by individual model for its S and X lines (which are now retired) or its newer Cybertruck, Semi, and Cybercab models, the production numbers suggest these specialty vehicles constitute a small portion of the overall output.
