Tesla has announced plans to begin production of its second-generation Roadster in 2028. The vehicle was showcased during a presentation where it performed a short "flight" demonstration.

The Performance version of the new Roadster is now available for pre-order with a reservation deposit of 332,000 Chinese yuan. The car is designed for public road use and features an active aerodynamic system. The demonstrated "flight" was achieved using a downward-facing fan system to create suction and optional cold gas thrusters developed by SpaceX.

According to Tesla, the Roadster's propulsion system generates 4-5 times the thrust compared to the grip provided by tires on conventional vehicles, enabling significantly enhanced acceleration. The car incorporates compressed gas tanks within its structure to facilitate the thruster system's operation and extend its "flight" duration.
