Tesla Robotaxi Service Expands to Miami Area Without Safety Driver
Tesla has expanded its self-driving Robotaxi service to a small area in western Miami, USA. The service operates without a safety driver present in the vehicles.

Automaker Tesla has extended its Robotaxi service area to include a small portion of western Miami, USA. The fully autonomous taxis operate without a safety driver inside the vehicle on these routes.
Similar to its previous Robotaxi launches in Dallas and Houston, Tesla has avoided deploying the service in the busiest downtown sections of Miami. Users on the X platform have shared accounts of riding in these driverless vehicles.
Tesla's decision to operate without an onboard safety driver has previously drawn scrutiny, particularly when the service began in Austin, Texas. The company is expected to expand the Robotaxi service to larger areas of Miami in the future.
In the Miami market, Tesla competes with Waymo, which officially entered the market with its autonomous taxis in January. Zoox is also planning to launch a similar service in the area and has begun field testing its fleet.
Tesla had previously confirmed the rollout of its Robotaxi service in Miami and five other U.S. cities for 2025. In early 2026, the company reportedly had a fleet of 200 Robotaxis and was advancing driverless testing for the service.
