Tesla secures $30B in new credit lines for Cybercab, Optimus scaling
Tesla has secured $30 billion in new credit facilities to fund the scaling of its Cybercab robotaxi and Optimus robot. The company does not plan to draw on these credits this year, despite projected capital expenditures exceeding $25 billion.

Automaker Tesla has secured new credit facilities totaling $30 billion, intended to support the scaling of its upcoming Cybercab robotaxi and Optimus robot. The new financing includes a $20 billion delayed-draw term loan facility from Citibank and a $10 billion package of revolving credit facilities from Wells Fargo.
In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the company stated it does not plan to draw on these facilities this year. Tesla has already projected capital expenditures of at least $25 billion for 2026, indicating significant investment in expanding production capacity. The company's financial position at the end of the second quarter was robust, with approximately $9 billion in debt and over $40 billion in cash and investments.
In addition to the Cybercab and Optimus robot, the funding may also support increased production of the Tesla Semi electric truck. All three of these new products require new manufacturing lines and have necessitated substantial investment. Tesla has built new, dedicated factories for the Semi and Optimus, highlighting its commitment to commercializing these emerging technologies.
These substantial credit lines provide Tesla with the flexibility to finance its large-scale product development and production expansion plans without an immediate need for additional capital. The company's continued investments in autonomous driving, robotics, and electric vehicle technology signal its strategy to maintain a leading position in the industry.
