Tesla to end Cybertruck production next year

Tesla will cease production of the Cybertruck, the company's electric pickup model, by the middle of next year. CEO Elon Musk confirmed the plan to shutter assembly of the vehicle at the Gigafactory Texas plant, ending a production run that spanned less than three years.

Since its debut in 2023, the model has been plagued by manufacturing challenges and quality control issues. Tesla issued multiple recalls for the vehicle, covering defects ranging from detached trim panels and faulty accelerator pedals to issues with wheels and structural components. Industry experts frequently noted that the truck's angular, stainless-steel design presented significant hurdles for mass-market production precision.

Commercial performance for the Cybertruck remained well below initial projections. After peaking in mid-2024, sales volumes declined steadily, failing to reach the annual targets previously set by the manufacturer. The discontinuation follows a period of weakening consumer interest and ongoing technical difficulties, marking the end of a high-profile product cycle for the company.
