Tesla to Report Second-Quarter Results After Market Close

Tesla is scheduled to announce its second-quarter financial performance after the market closes on Wednesday. This comes three weeks after the company reported a 25% year-over-year increase in vehicle deliveries, signaling a potential rebound in its core automotive business.

Wall Street analysts, according to LSEG estimates, project earnings per share of $0.51 and revenue of $25.71 billion. This revenue figure would represent a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. The company's stock has faced pressure, declining 16% year-to-date, while the broader Nasdaq index has gained 11%.

The company faces significant competition, particularly from Chinese automakers like BYD, Nio, and Xiaomi, which offer more affordable electric vehicles. Additionally, some consumers have boycotted Tesla due to statements and actions by CEO Elon Musk.

Despite market challenges, Tesla's vehicle deliveries for the second quarter surpassed 480,000 units, exceeding analyst expectations. The company has also introduced lower-cost versions of its Model 3 and Model Y and expanded the availability of its advanced driver-assistance system in European markets.

Musk has been shifting the company's focus towards its robotaxi service and the development of humanoid robots. However, previous ambitious targets for robotaxi deployment have not been met, and Tesla faces established competition in both the robotaxi sector from companies like Alphabet's Waymo and in the nascent humanoid robot market.
