Tesla Vehicle Sales Decline Year-Over-Year But Beat Estimates
Tesla sold fewer vehicles in the third quarter compared to last year but still surpassed Wall Street estimates. Production saw a slight year-over-year increase.

Tesla delivered fewer electric vehicles in the third quarter than in the previous year, a period when consumers rushed to take advantage of expiring federal tax credits. However, the company exceeded analyst expectations, reporting deliveries of 464,391 vehicles between July and September.
The majority of production, 457,387 units, consisted of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Additionally, the company produced 7,004 "other vehicles," including the Cybertruck and Tesla Semi. This represents a production increase of approximately 3.8 percent compared to the third quarter of 2025.
Despite the year-over-year decline in sales figures, Tesla's performance was stronger than anticipated. Analysts had braced for lower numbers, and the company's results suggest its recovery is still on track amid a cooling market.
Tesla's strategy continues to focus on production efficiencies and the development of new models. The company's CEO has previously stated goals to reduce manufacturing costs and enter new markets.
