Texas Secretary of State Sets October 5 Voter Registration Deadline
The Texas Secretary of State has reminded eligible voters that the deadline to register for the November 3 General Election is Monday, October 5. Registration is the first step towards a smooth voting experience.
AUSTIN, Texas – Eligible Texans must register to vote by Monday, October 5, to participate in the November 3 General Election, according to the Office of the Texas Secretary of State.
Election officials emphasize that voter registration or confirming existing registration is the initial step for voters to ensure a smooth process on Election Day.
"The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is October 5," stated Secretary of State Robert S. Howden. "If you are qualified to vote but have not yet registered, or if you have moved since you last voted, now is the time to act."
To be eligible to register, individuals must be at least 18 years old by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of their county of registration. Texans can find registration applications and check their status online at VoteTexas.gov.
Voter registration applications submitted by mail must be postmarked on or before the October 5 deadline. The Secretary of State's office advises voters to request a manual postmark at a USPS retail location to ensure the correct date is applied.
