Thailand Promotes Film Locations and Tourism at TIFF 2026

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) utilized the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to highlight the nation's growing strength as an international filming destination and to promote film-induced tourism.

Through its "Amazing Location: From Scene to Scenic" campaign, TAT presented Thailand's diverse locations, experienced crews, production infrastructure, competitive incentives, and cultural richness. The initiative aimed to connect film production with the rising potential of "set-jetting," where audiences travel to experience on-screen locations.

The campaign featured a panel discussion titled "Amazing Locations: From Scene to Scenic — Place as Character: How Thailand Shapes Global Cinema?", including director Banjong Pisanthanakun and producer Cod Satrusayang. TAT also showcased 10 highlighted filming routes across Thailand and held meetings with over 40 international production companies and industry representatives.

Thailand offers significant advantages for film productions, including cash rebates of up to 30 percent. The TAT is also planning future familiarization trips for international producers and industry professionals to experience the country's filming capabilities firsthand.

The country's presence at TIFF coincided with increased global visibility for Thailand's film industry, as two Thai productions, "Inherit" and the documentary "Always Lalisa," held their world premieres at the festival.
