The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Al-Ghunaim Open 130th Cafe in Kuwait

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) and Al-Ghunaim Trading Co. have opened their 130th cafe in Kuwait, marking over 20 years of partnership. The expansion signifies substantial growth in the market, which has a population of approximately five million people. The Kuwaiti operation now employs over 1,135 individuals across its cafes and support functions.

Since launching its first cafe in Salmiya in December 2004, Al-Ghunaim Trading Co. has established CBTL as a prominent premium cafe brand in Kuwait. The network has grown from a single location to a widespread presence, focusing on serving quality coffee and tea and fostering community connections.

Abdulghani Al-Ghunaim, Chairman of Al-Ghunaim Trading Co., has been instrumental in the brand's development. His leadership has navigated the business through periods of rapid growth, evolving consumer tastes, and regional uncertainties, all while prioritizing the customer experience. Mishary Al-Ghunaim, CEO of Al-Ghunaim Trading Co., highlighted customer trust and employee dedication as key factors in their success.

The cafe chain has also received recognition for its customer service. In 2025, CBTL Kuwait was awarded the "First Café Award 2025" and was named among the "Top 10 Brands 2025" by Service Hero Kuwait, an independent customer satisfaction index. This marked the third consecutive year CBTL Kuwait was ranked among the country's top brands. Furthermore, Al-Ghunaim Trading Co. has supported the community through employment and a $1 million contribution to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund in 2026.
