European scaleup The Exploration Company, which designs and manufactures reusable space capsules, is in advanced talks to secure a new funding round valued at around $2 billion post-money. Venture capital firms Atomico and Bessemer Venture Partners are reportedly set to co-lead the investment.

The company has previously raised significant capital. In 2023, The Exploration Company closed a €435 million funding round led by Claret Capital Partners. Previous investors include taija.com, Partech, dsb, and Ilkka Paananen.

Most recently, The Exploration Company opened its first laboratory in the United States. CEO Hélène Huby has expressed the company's focus on rapid growth and international expansion, particularly in the US market.

This potential funding comes amid a period of significant investment in the European space technology sector, with companies like Isar Aerospace raising €270 million and ICEYE securing €1 billion in recent funding rounds.
