The Knot Worldwide Acquires Zola in Wedding Tech Consolidation

The Knot Worldwide announced Wednesday it has entered into an agreement to acquire rival wedding planning platform Zola. The transaction brings two major players in the wedding industry under one corporate umbrella.

The deal expands The Knot Worldwide's portfolio to 14 brands across 11 countries, as the company aims to enhance its digital services and reach more couples and wedding businesses. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Zola will continue to operate as a separate consumer brand within The Knot Worldwide's portfolio. Both platforms offer similar services, including wedding websites, registries, and planning tools. The companies plan to combine their strengths in planning, personalization, vendor discovery, and e-commerce.

"Welcoming Zola to our portfolio is an exciting opportunity to help more wedding professionals grow their businesses and create more personalized, connected experiences for couples, from their first moment of inspiration through ‘I do,’" said Raina Moskowitz, CEO of The Knot Worldwide.

The Knot, founded in the 1990s, is a large digital marketplace in the wedding industry. Zola was founded in 2013 and initially gained popularity for its digital wedding registry before expanding its offerings.
