The Londoner Pub in Kitzbühel marks 50 years

The Londoner, an iconic establishment in Kitzbühel's nightlife, is celebrating five decades of operation. Founded in 1976 by Rik Gunnell, who brought British pub culture to the Austrian Alps, the venue has evolved into a significant meeting point for both residents and a global clientele.

Over the years, The Londoner has become a 'second home' for many, fostering friendships and shared experiences. The pub emphasizes an open and inclusive atmosphere, welcoming everyone regardless of their background or what they order.

In March 2020, the pub's current chapter began when former airline pilot David Jamieson took over ownership. Jamieson, who originally came to Kitzbühel for a short period, found a new career path at the pub. He is committed to preserving The Londoner's heritage while ensuring its continued relevance.

The venue also maintains strong ties to the ski racing community, supporting athletes such as Swedish skier Felix Monsen. Musically, the pub is known for its lively atmosphere, with songs like "American Pie" and "Sweet Caroline" often bringing patrons together. For approximately 30 years, the band Short and Curlies has been a fixture of the pub's après-ski entertainment.

Jamieson aims to maintain the pub's distinctive ambiance, characterized by its traditional decor and welcoming corners. He sees his role as preserving the 'feeling' of The Londoner, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for creating new memories in Kitzbühel for years to come.
