Amazon Prime Video is releasing a film adaptation of the popular novel "The Love Hypothesis" by Ali Hazelwood on Wednesday, September 23rd. The movie, which was a bestseller and gained significant traction on Booktok, stars Lili Reinhart as Olive Smith and Tom Bateman as Professor Adam Carlsen.
The story, initially published as fanfiction under the title "Head Over Feet" and loosely inspired by the Star Wars saga, is set at Stanford University. It centers on Olive, a PhD candidate in biology who needs a fake boyfriend to convince her ex that she has moved on.
Olive approaches Adam Carlsen, a young, notoriously grumpy professor, with a proposal for a fake relationship. To her surprise, he agrees, believing it might help him secure research funding by appearing more stable. However, as is common in romance narratives, their pretense begins to blur into genuine feelings.
