The Witcher 4 targeting 2028 release

CD Projekt Red is targeting a 2028 release for its next main installment in The Witcher series, The Witcher 4. Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski confirmed the timeframe in a new video. The game has been in development for several years, with some footage previously shown.

Before The Witcher 4 arrives, players can expect an expansion for The Witcher 3 titled Songs of the Past, scheduled for release in 2027. CD Projekt Red plans to showcase this expansion at the Gamescom event this week, including its Opening Night Live presentation.

The Songs of the Past expansion will add new quests and content to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt Red has recently focused on both The Witcher franchise and updates for Cyberpunk 2077.

The 2028 target for The Witcher 4 provides a multi-year development window. The game is expected to utilize CD Projekt Red's new Unreal Engine 5, which promises enhanced graphics and more complex game worlds.
