Therapy Ponies Visit Senior Day Care Center
Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe's day care center in Schwabelweis received two therapy ponies, bringing joy and interaction to elderly clients.

Regensburg, Germany – Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe's day care center in Schwabelweis recently hosted an unusual event when two therapy ponies visited the facility.
Simone Hauer from "Simone's Pferdewelt", accompanied by staff member Stefanie Feiler, brought her two therapy ponies, Lorena and Nona, to meet the day care guests. While the center regularly offers diverse activities, the encounter with the horses indoors was a unique experience that sparked significant enthusiasm.
Clients had the opportunity to pet the ponies, share their own experiences with animals, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. Some guests even braided the ponies' manes and decorated them with ribbons. Janet Mayer, the center's director, described the visit as highly positive, noting how the animals' presence encouraged even more reserved clients to engage.
The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe day care center in Schwabelweis, which opened in September 2024, accommodates up to 25 seniors. Its program includes various activities such as baking, crafting, gymnastics, and outings, all designed to foster community and a structured daily routine. The therapy pony visit was part of this effort to provide meaningful and joyful experiences.
