Third Reality Releases ZW1 Zigbee Smart Wall Outlet with Independent Control
Third Reality has launched its ZW1 Zigbee Smart Wall Outlet, offering independent smart control and energy monitoring for both receptacles in a single in-wall unit.
Third Reality announced the ZW1 Zigbee Smart Wall Outlet, an in-wall duplex receptacle designed to provide independent smart control and energy monitoring for each of its two outlets. The device replaces a standard U.S. wall receptacle and integrates Zigbee connectivity.
The ZW1 allows users to control the upper and lower outlets separately through a compatible Zigbee hub. This enables independent scheduling and automation for two connected devices, or the ability to control both simultaneously. Each receptacle also features separate energy monitoring, providing distinct consumption data for each connected device.
This smart outlet is compatible with various Zigbee platforms, including Home Assistant and SmartThings, and requires a compatible Zigbee hub for operation. As a powered Zigbee device, the ZW1 also functions as a repeater, extending the range of the Zigbee mesh network.
Due to the internal hardware for independent control and monitoring, the ZW1 features a deeper housing than conventional outlets. Installers should confirm sufficient depth and wiring space within the existing electrical box before installation. The ZW1 is available online for $29.99.
