ThirdReality Adds Brighter Zigbee Smart Bulb

Smart home technology firm ThirdReality has expanded its Zigbee smart lighting line with the introduction of the Zigbee Smart Color Bulb ZL2. This new A21 bulb offers an increased brightness of up to 1600 lumens, equivalent to a 100W incandescent bulb, making it suitable for areas requiring higher illumination such as garages, workshops, and large living spaces.

The ZL2 bulb supports tunable white light ranging from 2700K to 6500K and can produce millions of colors. It also features 1%-100% dimming capabilities, allowing users to adjust lighting intensity for various activities, from bright task lighting to ambient mood lighting.

Built on the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, the ZL2 also acts as a Zigbee repeater. When its power supply is active, the bulb can extend the mesh network coverage for other compatible Zigbee devices. This feature can enhance connectivity in larger homes or areas with weaker signal strength, eliminating the need for a separate repeater device.

The ZL2 is compatible with various Zigbee smart home platforms, including Amazon Echo, eero, SmartThings, Aeotec, and Hubitat. It can also be integrated with Home Assistant through ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT, or used with ThirdReality's Hub Gen2 Plus. A four-pack of the bulbs is priced at $39.99.
