San Jose, Calif. – Thirdreality on Monday announced the Smart Timer Light TL2, combining smart lighting with advanced presence sensing. This marks the company's first product to support Matter over Wi-Fi and utilizes 60GHz mmWave technology for presence detection.
The TL2 aims to enhance energy efficiency and convenience in smart homes. By employing 60GHz mmWave radar technology, the device can detect human presence without cameras, enabling automatic lighting control based on room occupancy. Lights can be programmed to turn off after a period of inactivity or adjust brightness according to ambient light levels.
Matter compatibility ensures broader interoperability with various smart home devices and platforms, unifying control through a single application. The 60GHz sensing technology offers high precision in detecting movement and occupancy, even through obstructions like curtains or furniture.
