Thyrocare Q2 Profit Drops 68% Following Subsidiary Impairment Charge

Thyrocare recorded a 68.2% year-on-year decline in net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, falling to ₹15.2 Cr. The decline was primarily driven by a ₹45 Cr impairment charge associated with the planned sale of its subsidiary, Nueclear Healthcare Limited (NHL), to Trovera Healthcare.

Despite the bottom-line pressure, operational performance remained strong. Revenue from diagnostic testing services rose 26% year-on-year to ₹256.7 Cr, pushing total operating revenue to ₹270.8 Cr, a 25% increase over the previous year. If the one-time impairment charge is excluded, the company’s profit before tax grew 25% year-on-year to ₹77.8 Cr.

The divestment of the radiology and diagnostic-imaging arm reflects a broader strategic shift. The company stated that it intends to prioritize its pathology business, citing superior growth trajectories and profit margins compared to the imaging segment. Moving forward, Thyrocare plans to diversify its service offerings by scaling its specialty diagnostics portfolio, including genomics and allergy testing.
