Tier IV adds wide-angle models to MP camera series for peripheral sensing
TIER IV, a developer of open-source software for autonomous driving, has expanded its MP camera series with two new wide-angle models designed for commercial Level 4 autonomy.
Tokyo – TIER IV, a company focused on open-source software for autonomous driving, has introduced two new models to its MP camera series. The C1-120MP and C2-120MP cameras, available from September 30, 2026, feature a 120-degree wide-angle lens for peripheral sensing in commercial Level 4 autonomous systems.
The new models aim to enhance situational awareness by reducing blind spots. Integrating these wide-angle cameras for close-range detection with narrow-angle cameras for long-range sensing allows for more flexible system designs. This approach seeks to minimize the total camera count while ensuring comprehensive coverage essential for safe autonomous operation.
This strategy can lead to leaner sensor configurations, improving overall system performance through optimized data processing and reduced power consumption. TIER IV's automotive-grade cameras are designed for compatibility with Autoware, the open-source software for autonomous driving, which can reduce development time and costs for autonomous driving systems.
TIER IV intends to continue expanding the MP camera series to accommodate diverse configurations and operational environments, with the goal of accelerating the deployment and enhancing the safety of Level 4 autonomous driving. Sales are handled by AISAN TECHNOLOGY and Digiflec.
