TIER IV Joins Arm Total Design to Accelerate Autonomous Driving Solutions

TOKYO, JAPAN – TIER IV, the company behind the open-source autonomous driving software Autoware, announced its participation in Arm Total Design for Physical AI. This initiative is set to accelerate the development and deployment of Autoware-based solutions across Arm-based System-on-Chips (SoCs) and in-vehicle computing platforms.

The Arm Total Design for Physical AI program brings together various partners to speed up the development and implementation of physical AI. TIER IV will contribute its expertise in open-source autonomous driving and its experience with Autoware systems. The company intends to connect the Autoware ecosystem with a wider network of technology partners, assisting developers in bringing autonomous driving software to real-world applications.

TIER IV and Arm have an established collaboration through the Open AD Kit framework, designed to simplify Autoware integration across different computing platforms. This partnership combines open-source autonomous driving software with Arm-based computing technologies, aiming to make software-hardware integration more straightforward. The goal is to offer Autoware in ready-to-use configurations that support development from Arm SoCs to vehicle computing platforms.

Shinpei Kato, founder and CEO of TIER IV, highlighted that making autonomous driving accessible requires more than just software; it necessitates practical pathways for integrating that software onto computing platforms. He expressed that joining Arm Total Design for Physical AI will extend this collaboration across a broader ecosystem, further accelerating the democratization of autonomous driving.

TIER IV will continue to work with Arm and other industry partners to enhance the accessibility of Autoware on computing platforms. Through Open AD Kit and the broader physical AI ecosystem, the company aims to reduce development barriers and enable more organizations to develop and deploy autonomous driving systems.
