TikTok and Disney Sign Global Short-Form Video Content Agreement
TikTok and Walt Disney have announced a global short-form video content sharing agreement. The partnership will allow TikTok creators to use Disney's IP material and will feature creations on Disney+'s Verts platform.

IT Home (China Tech) reported on August 5th that TikTok and Walt Disney have reached a global agreement for sharing short-form video content. The collaboration is set to pilot initially in the United States market before expanding to other regions.
Through this partnership, TikTok creators will gain access to Disney's intellectual property, including materials from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and FX, for use in their short-form video creations. These videos will also be showcased on Disney+'s vertical short-form video platform, 'Verts'.
TikTok will open up hundreds of films and television series' assets from Disney to creators, enabling them to produce derivative works based on classic characters, stories, and movie clips. Additionally, Disney and TikTok will jointly operate the 'Disney Creator Ambassador Program', offering incentives, exclusive event opportunities, and career development support to selected creators.
The agreement marks a significant step in Disney's strategy to enhance its presence in the short-form video landscape. This follows Disney's previous launch of 'Verts' within its ESPN direct-to-consumer streaming service and its plans to introduce short-form content to Disney+. Short-form video has emerged as a key channel for entertainment discovery, with studies indicating that a substantial portion of users proceed to watch full films or series after encountering related content on platforms like TikTok.
