TikTok bans account for Elon Musk documentary

TikTok has permanently banned the social media account for the upcoming documentary about Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. The move by the social media platform comes just ahead of the film's wider release.

TikTok did not immediately respond to requests for comment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's distributor, Bleecker Street, was informed Friday afternoon that a "permanent suspension" was imminent. Bleecker Street has not yet responded to requests for comment.

The documentary, directed by Alex Gibney, features segments including text messages where Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, a part owner of TikTok, offers to help Musk fund his purchase of X (formerly Twitter).

The ban could impact the film's visibility and marketing efforts, particularly as TikTok faces potential regulatory scrutiny in the United States.
