TikTok permanently bans advertising account for 'Musk' documentary

TikTok has permanently banned the advertising account for a four-hour documentary about Elon Musk, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The film's distributor, Bleecker Street, was informed by the platform that the account received a "permanent suspension" due to its political content.

The decision highlights ongoing challenges for the "Musk" documentary in securing advertising space on major social media platforms. Previously, Meta and YouTube had also initially rejected ads promoting the trailer, though Meta later allowed them, attributing the initial rejection to an "error."

Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly Twitter), has refused to run ads for the film on his platform. The documentary, directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney, has faced a staggered release, including a limited theatrical debut and a planned streaming release on HBO.

This move by TikTok adds to the obstacles faced by the film's promotion, raising questions about content moderation policies and their impact on political or biographical documentaries distributed on social media.
