TikTok Report: $81 Billion Contributed to U.S. Economy

Social media platform TikTok has released a new report indicating it contributed $81 billion to the U.S. economy last year. The report highlights that small businesses were a significant driver of this economic impact through their use of the platform.

"And that impact is not limited to just major companies or our largest creators," said Nicole Nason, head of public policy at TikTok USDS Joint Venture. "It’s entrepreneurs. It’s bakeries and barbershops and farmers, first-time business owners."

The report, conducted by research firm Public First, surveyed over 11,000 American adults and 5,000 businesses. It also incorporated publicly available economic data and TikTok's internal data. According to its analysis, 42 million Americans discovered a new small business through the platform in 2025.

Most businesses utilizing the platform reported increased sales. Research from TikTok and Public First shows that 93 percent of businesses using TikTok say their sales increased after promoting their products and services on the platform. Eight in ten businesses stated the platform has helped them scale operations, with 83 percent reporting they attracted a new investor or additional investment through a TikTok interaction. Furthermore, 80 percent indicated that TikTok Shop sales enabled them to hire new employees.
