Tiryaki Agro and Djibouti Ports Authority Sign Deal to Develop Tadjourah Port

Tiryaki Agro and the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore long-term development, modernization, and future operations at the Port of Tadjourah. The agreement aims to enhance Djibouti's role as a regional trade and logistics hub.

The collaboration will focus on evaluating the technical, commercial, and operational framework for the port's future development. Subject to positive outcomes from subsequent studies and negotiations, the project may include modernizing port infrastructure, increasing logistics and storage capacity, and improving the handling of agricultural products and bulk commodities. This is expected to contribute to regional economic growth.

The initiative builds on a partnership that includes the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which provided support in the initial stages through feasibility studies and stakeholder engagement. The intention is to establish Djibouti as a key hub for regional trade and food security in the Horn of Africa.

The agreement is poised to create conditions for future investments in the Port of Tadjourah, aiming to foster more efficient agricultural trade, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support sustainable, private sector-led growth in the region.
