Tiryaki Agro and Djibouti Ports Authority Sign Deal to Develop Tadjourah Port

Tiryaki Agro and the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the long-term development, modernization, and future operation of Tadjourah Port. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation aimed at strengthening Djibouti's position as a regional trade and logistics hub, while supporting agricultural trade and supply chain resilience in the Horn of Africa.

Under the MoU, Tiryaki Agro and DPFZA will collaborate to assess the technical, commercial, and operational framework for Tadjourah Port's future development. The initiative is expected to enhance port infrastructure, expand storage and logistics capacity, and optimize the handling of agricultural and bulk commodities, with the goal of contributing to regional economic development.

Discussions for a potential long-term concession agreement for managing and operating the port are anticipated to follow successful studies and negotiations. This initiative builds upon preliminary work, including feasibility studies supported by IFC (International Finance Corporation), aiming to unlock Djibouti's potential as a strategic logistics gateway.

The collaboration reflects Djibouti's long-term vision to solidify its role as a strategic logistics gateway connecting Africa, the Middle East, and global markets. The project seeks to foster conditions for future investment in Tadjourah Port, supporting more efficient agricultural trade and private-sector-led sustainable growth across the Horn of Africa.
