The electronic music festival Tomorrowland held its second "The Magic of Tomorrowland" event in Shanghai, China. Organized in partnership with Hero Esports, INS LAND, and Budweiser, the two-day, sold-out festival drew thousands of attendees to the Hero Dome, merging music, culture, fashion, gastronomy, and technology.
The event took place in INS SEA, a newly developed waterfront destination in Shanghai's western Huangpu district. The festival, held indoors, provided an intimate yet high-energy experience, featuring an 88-meter wide main stage enhanced by 72 moving ceiling screens to create an immersive visual environment.
The production, including its scenography, was entirely locally produced, demonstrating Tomorrowland's ability to adapt its signature experience to new settings. The planning adhered to local safety requirements and incorporated sustainability aspects. Debby Wilmsen, a spokesperson for Tomorrowland, stated that China has always welcomed the festival and returning for a second year with local partners is a privilege.
Performers on the first night included Axwell, Lost Frequencies, Cassian, and Kevin de Vries. The second night's headline act was Tiësto, with other notable performances by ARTBAT, R3HAB, Miss Monique, and Alison Wonderland. A second, more intimate stage, Paperworld by Budweiser, also featured artists like Hauzer and Carly Wilford.
The sold-out event showcased a wide spectrum of electronic music by combining international artists with local talent. The production involved significant local technical and creative expertise, including advanced stage technology and locally crafted costumes.
