Tongwei Solar Launches New Module for Residential Rooftops

Tongwei Solar has unveiled the TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48, a new solar module designed for residential rooftops. The 48-cell module, measuring 1,762 x 1,134 x 30 mm, offers up to 490W of power with an efficiency of 24.5%.

The module is available in full black and black frame options, aiming to combine high performance with energy generation, installation flexibility, and a design suitable for modern homes. According to Zander Yuan, Director of Product and Technology at Tongwei Solar, the module is intended to help homeowners maximize their available roof space.

The TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 reportedly provides around 30W more power than comparable TOPCon modules of similar size, allowing for higher capacity installations without increasing the number of panels. The company claims the module achieves an average energy yield 3.3% higher than copper-backed BC modules, particularly benefiting from improved performance in low-light conditions during early mornings and late afternoons.

Tongwei's tests in Yancheng indicated that the TNC module reached 447.56 equivalent full load hours, compared to 433.27 hours for BC modules. The company suggests that these improvements could lead to cost savings, estimating that a 485W TNC module could yield similar energy to a 500W BC module, potentially saving over €400 on panel costs for a 12-panel system.

The module's design also addresses aesthetic considerations, with options for a full black finish or a black frame to complement various roof styles. The dual-glass construction and protective sealing are designed for long-term durability in outdoor environments.
